Losing a loved one, and increased physical and mental challenges can lead to sadness and withdrawal. Persistent personality changes or unusual behavior may indicate your family member is suffering from an emotional illness, such as depression. Who Can Benefit? Individuals who experience these warning signs: Insomnia or too much sleep Crying spells Poor appetite or overeating Disregard for personal appearance Sad or blank looks Thoughts of suicide Forgetfulness or confusion Social isolation These symptoms are not normal and should be considered an illness in the elderly. Depression and emotional illness in older people can be treated. Therapy can help a person take better care of themselves and improve their outlook on life. Our Special Services: Free confidential initial consultations to determine the level of care Assistance locating an environment that can best meet the patient's needs Management of the patient's secondary medical needs Admissions accepted 24 hours a day How We Can Help: A thorough physical and mental evaluation is completed to determine the cause of the behavioral and mental changes. Then, we work with the patient, family and other health-care professionals to develop a course of treatment that best meets the needs of the individual. Treatment includes individual meetings with psychiatrists; or group therapy to assist with emotional, mental, physical and medication needs. Our nurses, counselors and social workers can help with the various aspects of a person's life.
